Massey Physiotherapy is an approved provider of the Careway Programme, an ACC funded pilot programme that provides faster, more comprehensive access to great healthcare services. This initiative is designed to improve healthcare accessibility for New Zealanders dealing with injuries, particularly those affecting the spine, knees, ankles and shoulders. The Careway pathway is designed so that affected individuals receive quicker assessments, treatments, and surgical treatment if necessary for their injury.

Am I eligible for Careway?
The careway programme covers a range of injuries, localised to the spine, knee, shoulder or ankle. This may include:
- Patients experiencing persistent knee injuries related to the meniscus, ligaments, or patella dislocations.
- Those with shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff tendon tears, or ruptures.
- Lumbar spine disc injuries where pain in the leg would be more noticeable than back pain.
- Rupturing of the achilles tendon.
- Ankle fractures.
How long does the Careway programme take?
Completion time in the Careway programme can range from 3 to 12 months. Patients stay with the programme until they meet their personalised objectives and goals.This may include objectives such as recovering mobility and strength, resuming work, reclaiming independence, and reaching key functional milestones.
The friendly team at Massey Physio will guide you towards setting achievable goals, and producing a rehabilitation plan that supports long term physical restoration.
What costs are involved?
This programme is fully funded by ACC. There is no cost for appointments with your physiotherapist or referred specialist provided you fit with the Careway programme criteria.
